Tafweed: authorizing your customs broker in FASAH
Tafweed (تفويض) is the electronic power of attorney inside the FASAH ecosystem: your establishment authorizes a licensed customs broker to file declarations, receive statuses and pay duties on its behalf. It is granted online by the establishment's authorized person, takes minutes, can be scoped and revoked at any time — and it is how virtually all commercial cargo actually clears, because self-filing importers are the rare exception.
How to grant a broker authorization
- 1. The company's authorized manager signs in (see our FASAH login guide) — identity confirmed via Nafath
- 2. In the authorizations (تفويض) section, add the broker by licence/establishment number — verify you are authorizing the right entity, not a similarly named one
- 3. Set the scope: which services the broker may perform on your behalf
- 4. Confirm — the broker's account now sees your establishment and can file declarations referencing your importer number
The broker cannot grant this to themselves: the flow always starts from the importer's side, which is precisely the control point.
Scope, duration and revocation
Authorizations are not all-or-nothing: scope what the broker actually does for you. Review the list when relationships change — departing brokers should lose access the day the relationship ends, exactly like an employee's system access. Revocation is immediate and unilateral from your account; declarations already filed remain valid, but nothing new can be submitted. Practical hygiene: one active clearing broker per flow keeps declaration history consistent (fragmented filings across brokers breed the inconsistencies that trigger queries — see the customs fines guide on sanad-x.com).
What Clearway needs from you to start filing
One tafweed and one document set. After the authorization: your CR and importer number are visible to us in the platform, and each shipment then needs only its commercial documents (invoice, packing list, B/L, certificates). From there Clearway files the bayan, answers ZATCA queries, pays duties against your funds and hands you the release — the full flow our FASAH broker guide describes. Granting the tafweed is the five-minute step that turns "how do I even use FASAH" into "my broker handles FASAH".
